Sujit Choudhry and the Future of Canada

According to Sujit Choudhry, Justin Trudeau, who is the prime minister of Canada, has asked the minister who is in charge of foreign affairs to establish a new section t aid in the creation of democracies worldwide. This new department is called the “Peace, Order, and Good Government Centre” which helps in resolving conflicts in countries aiming for democracy. Choudhry has ideas about how this organization can help other countries around the world. There are many considerations to take into account, especially as social media and civil wars can happen at any time, but Canada does have benefits when it comes to helping other countries according to him.

Sujit Choudhry does believe that there are certain steps that this new organization can take in order to ensure that they help the most possible. This involves keeping democracy safe, ensuring peace is the method of choice and promoting fair treatment of groups who are marginalized. One of the top challenges to deal with is the fact that the number of democracies around the world are fewer than they used to be. Another challenge according to him is that civil wars may still occur, though they have been rare since the end of the Cold War.

Sujit Choudhry does see one other concern when it comes to Canada and its desire for peace which is that social media is used in many cases to promote hate. There is also the case that minorities have been excluded from the discussion of democracy in many countries around the world. Canada, however, is a power in the world that can include those who are minorities and who is ready to help by using peace. They have been known for utilizing their own strength to build their own democracy and to incorporate peace wherever possible, according to Choudhry.
